Goodbye Hebei

Goodbye Hebei

Somewhere in Hebei near the capital city of Heibei, Shijiazhuang. Just sharing some of the impressions I took with me from Southern Hebei province. The classical story of the Dream of Red Mansions is barely known in the west as it seems. With all the characters, relationships and plots I bet the author Cao Xueqing was reborn as J.R.R. Tolkien. I enjoyed the stay here in this bustling capital city of Shijiazhuang to the fullest. When taking a Uber car, I met a great psychiatrist who works in the hospital. After joking around with him about crossing China on my foldable bike, I am glad he didn’t directly brought me to his work place.

No matter which city, a visit of the local museum is a must. Come visit my home 50 years from now and you can find nick-nack from all over the world. I also met a guy with the same Chinese surname “Yue”. I met him in the city of Handan, the real Brother Yue. He is around 10 years older than me, great attitude and loves cycling. This brother Yue rocks. Again I came across piles of used bicycles. Spare parts anyone? Those bikes are even more screwed up than mine. And in case you also need a new door. You can just call one of the skilled workers that posted their services on garage doors, making them look like a pieces of art. Marketing, the Chinese way. So far from Hebei. Stay positive and…
