1 Catholic Cathedral and the tomb of Bonifacio
Fulda is a pilgrimage place for thousands of believers. It is the cradle of German Catholicism. Within the Dome you find the tomb of Bonifacio, a missioner of the Catholic church who died as a martyr in 755 AD, having been killed by heathens. Since the 16th century he is considered the German Apostel of the Catholic church.
2 Michaelschurch

Directy next to the Dome  is the Michaelschurch which is considered the chapel of the Dome of Fulda. Both, the entrance to the Dome as well as into the Michaelschurch is for free. Feel the history of the centuries as you wander inside the huge romanic monuments.

3 Chateau and garden
Walk left as you stand in front of the main station. Continue the path until you arrive at the entrance of a park which leads to a royal chateau. The park is colourful with its hundreds of nicely positioned flowers. In the summer time you will see lots of people doing sport relaxing on the lawn. The atmosphere is great. The garden is entangled by the chateau. When I was there I couldn’t go inside, but there might be tours available. But also from outside, the chateau looks absolutely fantastic. The fountain in the middle of the garden is the icing on the cake. Don’t rush through the garden.

4 Historic city centre
As you walk back to the main station, take some time to discover the streets with its traditional half-timber houses. There is no need for buses in the city as you can walk all along the city. There are only few cars on the street and large pedestrian area make walks worthwhile. Eat in some local restaurant or check out the stores in the city.
Historic city
It’s not the quantity of sights but the feeling in this lovely little city which has something magical to it. People seem peaceful and happy with the place they live in. Fulda is yet small but much more relaxed than the big metropolis Frankfurt. Take your time as you wander along the old paths through the city. Enjoy the nice weather by eating an ice cream while listening children play cheerfully. It’s small indeed but it is worth the ride.
